The successful treatment of melasma by sub-thermolytic Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser therapy has been demonstrated by several investigators. The minimization of side-effects and reoccurence in high phototype patients is a major topic of current research. The approaches taken and the results obtained are reviewed in this paper.
