Ilay Maden: Oral Surgery and Photobiomodulation with LightWalker
LightWalker has many advantages when used for surgery. Either alone or in combination, both the Er:YAG and Nd:YAG wavelengths offer benefits in almost all applications. Just to list a few: decreased or eliminated pain during surgery, decreased bleeding or bloodless soft-tissue surgery if required, improved visual feedback, minimal trauma to the tissues (especially important with bone surgery), simultaneous disinfection and biomodulation leading to minimal inflammation (meaning minimal swelling and pain, quicker healing and more satisfied patients).
We can even improve the results with additional biomodulation, whereby the low-level laser is used by the cells’ powerhouse to heal, has a positive effect on local circulation and a direct analgesic effect. The presentation will be a clinical overview of TwinLight applications with Er:YAG and Nd:YAG laser, with a special focus on biomodulation. Examples of incisions and excisions, tooth uncovering, implant uncovering, crown lengthening, frenectomy, depigmentation, osteotomy, fibroma removal, operculectomy, herpes lesion treatment, haemangioma treatment and more will be shown. Clinical tips on how to manipulate the pain, haemostasis, and the effects of different parameters like energy per pulse, pulse duration, Hz rate, and water spray will be discussed.
